3. Apply online:  complete our online enrolment application.

How to enrol in our selective stream

Year 7 entry into a Selective High School

Information about the Year 7 selective high school placement process is available through the link below. This link will help you obtain more information about this program and how to apply. The application period cannot be extended. Make sure you submit your application before the closing date.

Year 8-10 entry into a Selective High School

Applications for selective entry for Years 8- 10 are accepted from mid June to the end of July each year. Applications are managed by the school, in line with Selective Schools Unit guidelines. Only a small number of places are available each year.

Entry to selective high schools in Years 8-10 does not depend on a centralised program as entry to Year 7 does. A common application package applies to all schools. Further information is available at the link below.

How to enrol in our performing arts stream

** Applications for placement in the 2026 Performing Arts Class closed on 20 October, 2025**

Selection/audition process

• The application form must be completed by the applicant and relevant other people.
• The application form must be forwarded to the school by the closing date as specified by Karabar High School each year.
• All items mentioned in the application form MUST be included with the application form.
• Students will have the opportunity to audition in one or more areas of the performing arts as ranked on the application form.
• Supporting documentation addressing the selection criteria provided in your application will be assessed by the school in addition to the skills demonstrated in the audition process.

Selection criteria

• Proven involvement/experience and expertise in the performing arts.
• A strong academic record.
• A sound behaviour and attendance record.
• An excellent attitude towards school.
• Proven record of involvement in extra-curricular activities and willingness to continue this in high school.

Distance Education

Distance education is an equity program for students who are geographically isolated or whose individual circumstances prevent them from regularly attending school. Students must meet one of the conditions in the Distance Education Enrolment Procedures to be eligible to access this program as a full-time student.
